Say No To The ”Shoulds” - Nicole Laino
Thursday Jan 06, 2022
Thursday Jan 06, 2022
“The most freeing thing that you'll ever give yourself is realizing that all the answers are within you.” Nicole Laino
At any level, it is important that people learn to take responsibility for their actions and the resulting outcomes. This ensures that there is continuous improvement and the people are able to move forward towards achieving their goals. Our guest today, Nicole Laino, helps people get past their blocks to achieve more, and says it is important to start with a change of how you view self and the world as a whole.
Nicole Laino is a startup founder (Hilo CRM), brand strategist, peak performance coach, Reiki master/teacher and the host of the Limitless Entrepreneur podcast. She spent 6 years in corporate at a Fortune 100 company before leaving her career for entrepreneurship. Affectionately referring to herself as a Type – A hippie (a free spirit who can grow a business and meet a deadline), Nicole has found and understands that to be truly successful in business, you have to be both strategic and spiritual. She combines proven marketing strategies with brain-based science, and her experience as a Rapid Manifestation Method Practitioner to help her clients overcome their limiting beliefs, develop their authentic brand, and achieve massive success.
In today’s episode, Nicole will discuss her journey to becoming an entrepreneur, and the techniques she uses to help her clients tap in to their greatest potential.

I grew up being an actor which was what I felt was my calling. [3:37]
I later got offered a position in wall street and when I didn't desire the comfort of a paycheck anymore, I left. [3:50]
I later moved into entrepreneurship by looking at how I could use all of my gifts and deciding how I fit into this world. [4:35]
Being a coach, intuitively kind of organically evolved and what I do now is exactly where I'm meant to be. [5:00]
Every step I take into expansion of that is about being more allowing, being more in tune and being more in alignment with who I truly am. [5:11]
When working with men that are not fully in their potential, there's always something that is causing them to either play small, or not fully step into their next level. [6:10]
With women, there are far more layers and it's so much more about the conditioning in place of what was acceptable and what was not. [6:28]
We think it's the world putting these pressures and responsibilities on us but we are the ones who accept them. [9:32]
Sometimes the hardest thing for us to do is to realize that we're just one question away from fixing our own problem. [11:20]
The greatest responsibility and the most freeing thing that you'll ever give yourself is realizing that all the answers are within you. [11:49]
Most people put way too much stock into getting the strategy but it's about finding the ones that are right for you. [14:45]
For the moon stuff and human design, it is really about pointing to the areas that need to be healed within ourselves. [19:47]
If our energy is all over the place and we need to rest, we give ourselves permission to do that for that finite period of time. [20:37]
Commercial break [21:24]
As far as part of my success, I know that I'm a voracious learner and I love to dive deep into subjects and take that knowledge and lead with it. [24:34]
A lot of that journey which is also a struggle and challenge is to trust that I know enough to lead with what I know. [24:51]
I realized that I communicate best when it can speak to it from either the perspective of a client where I've seen someone's journey unfold, or my own. [25:19]
I get people who are feeling like they are not living their potential that they feel called to live, and yet they're not able to walk as powerfully. [26:47]
Human Design gives us the map to show you where you are in your sheds and where you are out of alignment, as well as where you are not leaning into your power. [27:08]
People come to me with small traumas and I use a form of tapping, which is what the Rapid Relief technique is all about. [27:26]
A lot of women come to me feeling like they've burned out because they have leaned too much into the masculine energy. [28:25]
It's amazing how sometimes the answer is to do less of the right things than to do more of the wrong things, and you will make more money. [29:01]
When you are in alignment things feel good and the first stage of work is getting to that point of trusting. [33:07]
Whatever is happening to your life, the first step is looking at the challenges that you face in your life with curiosity instead of criticism. [34:28]
If you can contemplate things instead of criticizing, you will watch your world unfold so naturally and so beautifully. [34:50]

The Unstoppable Woman - Amira Alvarez

“You will not find an extra ordinary entrepreneur who doesn’t know themselves.” Amira Alvarez
The awareness that nothing happens by chance helps entrepreneurs understand the relationship between action and output, thus bringing meaning to their business. However, sometimes getting that breakthrough to the next level can be elusive for a long time to majority of business people. My company is all about helping women entrepreneurs get past those invisible blocks that keep them from quantum leaping or making that income breakthrough. [2:36]
When I started my business, I was unconscious about what I was doing that had some level of competency because I was getting ahead. [3:47]
I had this moment of realization that I was working very hard and felt like there were not enough hours of the day to work. [6:06]
I started studying success and what makes people successful, and why I was having some level of success but not a major breakthrough. [6:19]
Once I had my breakthrough, I went from 138 to 700k and that was the beginning of the coaching business. [6:33]:
One of the things I had to figure out was how to use the law of cause and effect. [8:18]
I teach from a perspective of inner game and outer game because entrepreneurs need both. [10:48]
I teach a lot from the concept of universal laws that help people understand that the world is an ordered place. [13:27]
The law of compensation says you'll be compensated according to the need for what you do, your ability to do it, and the difficulty in replacing you. [13:38]
Over the years, I have become exceedingly good at getting very quick results for my clients but that was not the case when I started. (14:19]
If I don't own my value, I'm going to make myself small and suppress myself and that makes me very commoditized. [15:20]
It was a terrifying process to keep making decisions from where I wanted to be, becoming the person that I wanted to be and owning that value. [16:20]
You will not find an extra ordinary entrepreneur who doesn’t know themselves. [19:30]
Commercial break
If you are constantly grinding and you don’t learn how to use your mind to change your perspective about what you are doing, you’re always going to feel like a grind and you are going to burn out. [23:51]
The level of truth, transparency and honesty I have about what I am doing is what allows me to grow so quickly. [24:54]
For most people, when they don't get the result that they want, they will blame other people. [25:19]
As human beings we are conditioned to defend against this idea of being wrong. [25:52]
If you're so committed to not being wrong, you will never be able to look at what you're doing and make any change. [26:07]
If you learn how to take 100% personal responsibility, the world can't do anything to you. [27:11]
Once you identify the gap, you have to do something different and take massive action immediately and consistently. [28:04]
As an entrepreneur, do not be afraid of your desires, because they are causative and shows you your path. [33:26]

I'm the president and founder of double forte which is a national Independent Public Relations strategic communications company. [3:41]
We help our clients achieve their business goals through communication. [3:52]
The biggest mistake companies can make is not make sure that they understand what marketing is and what it is not. [5:41]
I want to build a business on actually helping people achieve their goals. [8:20]
There's no way in between for an agency to do it without the client doing their part, and if they're unwilling to do it, no one can be successful. [9:45]
I think communication is the heart of all things, and that what you say matters. [11:03]
The thing about culture is that It's a common story among us and that the behaviors you allow in your team have to be articulated. [11:27]
The people we work with every day are the ones we spend most our time in relationship with and that's where you need to actually overemphasize communication. [11:54]
The job of communication is not just the leaders’ but everybody’s. [12:29]
My two books are about how you create a culture of transparency that is built on relationship, which therefore has communication at the heart. [12:37
You need to make sure you're all speaking the same language because if you don't, it all falls apart. [14:10]
Commercial break [14:42]
Two events that led me to start my own company but are my son having developmental disorders and my mom being diagnosed with stage four cancer. [17:28]
I advise everybody to not define yourself by what you don't want but rather define yourself with what you do want. [21:18]
I think you do so much better work when you're interested in what is around you. [22:50]
I have learned that to have your own rules you have to be really good at what you do and have confidence in it and not give up on it. [23:45]
My belief is that we should keep people with us as long as we possibly can if they are the right people. [27:47]
The rules I put on who we work with apply to how we treat our people and that is transformational for my house. [28:58]
The advice I would give my younger self would be, just do it yourself because you are good enough. [30:40]
You can do something bigger than you think and you a bigger story to share with the world. [33:10]

I started my radio show when I was 11 years old. [3:13]
As I got older, I started doing the millennial Gen Z commentating on different talk shows because I was fascinated with my generation. [3:39]
I always felt very thankful for finding out what I wanted to do so early and that really motivated me in my journey and what I do now. [4:06]
I quit my corporate job in July to really focus on myself and my brand which is now into wellness and self-development. [4:28]
I want to be able to interview and educate the people that are able to help millennials and Gen Z with what it is that they're going through. [5:03]
I was fascinated and learnt to play the steel drums when I was in fifth grade and afterwards my parents got me my own steel drums made by Tommy Reynolds [5:33].
I started getting those performances done in different places and ended up getting my first radio interview which I ended up liking it a lot and the rest happened. [9:24]
The older we get the more roadblocks we put in our own way and that definitely can stop us from doing our best work or getting it to where we want to go. [13:42]
I came up with my book during COVID which I am proud of the fact that it's a bestseller on Amazon and I want to continue to work on promoting the book. [14:32]
It is a guide and a blueprint for young people to succeed not only in their careers, but also in their lives. [14:53]
I feel like there's so much noise and false information and I try to sort of cut through that with a tough love and a sprinkle of celebrity advice that I got throughout the years in my book. [15:06]
I just finished the whole process of rebranding and I am focusing on my podcast which is basically going to be a branch of the book. [16:04]
I really want to go into every single issue that I know I have, or that I know peers of mine have to sort of help on that self-development journey. [16:13]
I am so thankful that we talk about mental illness and mental health. [17:40]
It is important that we talk about mental health because it is part of who we are and it makes people a lot more compassionate. [19:03]
I feel like being able to talk about that and being open with each other enough to do that does bring in more of the human connection side that we seem to lose when everything is digital. [19:35]
Commercial break. [19:57]
I have faced different obstacles at different times from dealing with not really getting a lot of support from different people to turning my student life on and off. [23:09]
It was a very complicated dynamic and so I just had to sort of adjust all the time. [24:16]
It was challenging for me while I was in college and while I was trying to climb the corporate ladder, because I didn’t really understand timelines with things. [25:30]
It took a minute to learn that being an entrepreneur, you're going to have ups and downs, and that the lows are when you learn and actually are growing and it is how you have the wins. [26:10]
I'm trying to reverse and go back to how I used to think when I was young where loss was a learning experience and not failure. [26:39]
Who you're around really does affect your mental state, how you think, what you believe and how you perceive things. [27:15]
It's so important to do the things that keeps you whole and I think that communications everything. [30:14]
My greatest strength is that I am extremely resourceful and I believe is the most important tool for all entrepreneurs. [32:10]
The mentality of always wanting to make it perfect will stop you in your tracks and nothing will get done thus hindering your progress. [34:03]
The advice I would give my younger self is to own what you are and don’t let other people get in your head. [35:40]
No matter what it is you are going, it gets better so keep going. [37:46]

“Whatever you're doing, the sooner you get started on it, the sooner you can reach your goals and dreams.” Mike Ross

Mike Gross is a dynamic speaker, facilitator, entrepreneur coach, and youth development professional. I feel like I have always been in a position to help others and I always thought that whatever the career I got into it was going to be helping others to reach their potential. [2:12]
The business that we've created is called kitty credit which is a mobile chore tracking app designed to prepare families for the risks of using credit. [2:26]
In advance of you ever having to actually use credit, we want you to understand both how it works, and how it impacts your life moving forward. [3:31]
We know that credit is one of the most important wealth building tools that America has to offer. [3:39]
Our goal is to start at a much younger age to ensure that you know how to use it effectively. [3:55]
When it comes to your finances, it's often a really emotionally charged topic and families look at it in different ways. [8:32]
If I can get you from that foundational level to understand that money and credit are tools that you can use effectively for your future, then we're in a better position. [9:37]
Commercial break. [11:47]
What have I learned about myself is, first that I love starting things. [13:05]
One of the most important things that I've learned is, you cannot do this effectively without a good team. [13:31]
The strengths that I have that helped me to succeed in business being able to envision the final endgame of what we're trying to get to. [14:07]
There are so many people who help you achieve whatever it is that you're getting to. [16:13]
You're standing on the shoulders of giants who have already come before you and laid the foundation to be able to build the business you want after that. [16:19]
There are a good number of people who are excited to support the mission and vision when you clearly lay it out. [19:11]
Once we have something to get behind, we can build together and leverage the skills, abilities and time of other people. [19:24]
There is no reason you can't start today, whatever the idea or business goal. [20:57]
Whatever you're doing, the sooner you get started on it, the sooner you can reach your goals and dreams. [21:13]
It is not always about the money, there has to be a bigger goal in mind for what you are accomplishing which can push you through those really difficult times. [21:44]
Take measured intentional steps to reach whatever the goals that you have for yourself. [22:54]

Get Up & Be Stronger - Jeff Martinovich
Tuesday Dec 21, 2021
Tuesday Dec 21, 2021
“I inspire and motivate them to get back up off the canvas, re-engage in that competitive game of life, and give it another shot.” Jeff Martinovich
Sometimes life throws us carved balls which may seem too hard to take. Yet it is during those moments when your mindset has to remain optimistic and tough in order to work through the hardships. Our guest today, Jeff Martinovich, has made through some of the toughest times and says that it is about taking deliberate actions to remain strong not only mentally, but physically and spiritually as well.
Jeffrey A. Martinovich is a First Gulf War Veteran, MBA, and CEO of JAM Accelerator, LLC, a business consulting and incubation firm. Previously, Jeff was Founder and CEO of MICG Investment Management, a billion-dollar wealth management firm. After the 2008 Financial Crisis, Jeff rejected three government plea offers, resulting in a 14-year prison sentence. Yet the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals reversed twice, two U.S. District Court Judges were removed, and after nearly 7 years, he was released to home confinement in May 2020 to begin rebuilding his life. His book is Just One More: The Wisdom of Bob Vukovich.
In this episode, Jeff talks more about his life as he went through the most difficult moments of his life and the motivation to rebuild after his released.

It was a very traumatic challenge to one day be running a billion-dollar organization, and the next day be in the throes of defending everybody. [3:02]
We all have these pivotal points in our life, where all of our training and experiences comes into play. [3:16]
I was sentenced to 14 years in prison and I went to a pretty higher security violent prison. [4:41]
I went into the Law Library and started to teach myself federal criminal law. [4:59]
I was incredibly lucky to reverse my case twice, removed two federal judges, and get back home after seven years. [5:15]
I decide that every day I was going to get up and be stronger physically, intellectually and emotionally and I worked in these three areas every day. [7:49]
When you have had a lot of leadership positions, the key is to fix it situations. [8:11]
Now I'm working day and night to rebuild the world and I'm helping a lot of the people in organizations that were hurt through this with me. [8:24]
I am also trying to help a ton of other people, not let what happened to me happen to them. [8:48]
Most people, especially entrepreneurs don't realize that the more successful you get, the more visible you are. [9:01]
At the Academy in the military, we always say that if you're not scared, you're stupid but courage is what you do when you're scared. [10:53]
Jam accelerator is a combination consulting and coaching business that we have where we help business owners do better. [13:05]
I love to help business owners and we do it in a consulting or in a coaching model and we do in the defense industry as well as a pretty broad array of commercial business. [13:35]
I really like mostly getting immersed with our clients and we try to take on projects where we could have Uber dramatic impact on the organization. [15:31]
Commercial Break. [16:02]
I've made more mistakes than anyone who could possibly be listening to this show right now. [17:42]
My secret sauce is culture because I believe everybody wants to be part of something that inspires them. [18:05]
To do that, we have to be different and be better in everything that we do because that is what separates us from everybody. [18:58]
I get scared every day because I still feel these things hanging over me, but I slap myself and keep moving. [24:56]
Through all these occurrences and tragedy, I definitely cemented that theory that the more people we help, it comes back to us 100,000 times over. [25:20]
I'm just trying every day to lead the best life that I can lead physically, intellectually and emotionally, spiritually, believing that tomorrow will be a better day. [25:33]
Everybody goes through these terrible times and you never know what's going on with the person next to you. [26:30]
I just want to try to inspire and motivate people to get back up off the canvas, reengage in that competitive game of life, and give it another shot. [26:52]
We pray in our time and God answers in his time so it never happens when we think it will but eventually it does. [27:10]

We Understand Your Pain - Sean Campbell
Monday Dec 20, 2021
Monday Dec 20, 2021
“I am a huge believer in teaching and more importantly, apprenticeship in business.” Sean Campell
Information is one of the fundamental aspects that drive organizational success. Getting the right data and communicating it to inform decisions is the goal of marketing research. Our guest today, Sean Campbell, has been helping businesses learn and navigate their environment and stresses on the importance of continuous learning and apprenticeship in organizations.
Sean has been training, mentoring, and educating all his life. An exceptionally well regarded conference speaker and author, Sean has delivered talks for Fortune 50 companies and top tier conferences. He has also been the author of several books on technical as well as business topics. Sean has also been a professional services firm owner for over 20 years. His professional services work has spanned consulting engagements with the Fortune 50 and startups you’ve heard of, the sale of his first professional services company, and the growth of delivery, sales, marketing, and operational practices inside professional services firms. In short, Sean brings a wealth of knowledge when it comes to surviving and thriving as a service firm owner or the leader of a practice area inside a larger services firm.
In today’s episode, Sean talks about the importance of market research for firms and the work his company does to help companies get out of the valleys they are in.

The word cascade is knowledge that just keeps going on and bumping into other knowledge and growing. [3:31]
Predominantly, we're a market research firm and we go help our clients learn more about the market which they can use in ways that they find advantageous and we also do a lot of marketing activation. [3:38]
We get hire for two reasons, either pain that is a company is experiencing or opportunity they want to gain from. [3:51]
One of our more popular blog posts for years was how good people deliver bad news. [9:58]
One of the interesting thing about our client base, is that they really need us to tell them bad things. [10:54]
We don't have the ability to control the message all the way forward and back but I do feel like we're truth tellers. [12:28]
We very much watch that we bring in people in who have enough empathy that they can marry that with being truth tellers. 13:58]
What we're trying to do with clients all the time is trying to get them to understand the valley they're in, but let them see what's shining on the other side that they can get to. [15:00]
One of the things that's led us to be really successful is honestly how much we've said no. [15:40]
I would say once you are making some amount of money, you need to learn how to say no. [16:04]
Commercial Break. [17:38]
The thing that's been the biggest driver for my successes, is that I love to learn. [19:39]
Very few people read things that conflicts with what they already believe and business owners do this too. [21:03]
It takes real effort to go find things you disagree with and from a business standpoint, you need that kind of input. [21:19]
I am a huge believer in teaching and more importantly, apprenticeship in business. [22:17]
In the line of work that we do, knowledge workers collaborating is usually a good thing. [24:09]
I realized that by saying apprenticeship it creates a bit of a power dynamic where it forces the idea that someone is more knowledgeable than you. [25:22]
Apprenticeship requires the idea that someone else in the company has more knowledge than you. [25:43]
I think that it is weird to make everybody feel somewhat equivalent in the organization because the gap has to exist for apprenticeship to work. [25:53]

Getting Paid to Be You - Natalie Sisson
Friday Dec 17, 2021
Friday Dec 17, 2021
“It's good not to just be focusing on you and always your growth and profitability, but also about how you can bring up others with you on your way up.” Natalie Sisson
One of the greatest aspirations for entrepreneurs is for their business to positively impact the community. Our guest today Natalie Sisson, has built her business around helping people and says that the benefits of giving back in business are numerous key among them being strong relationships.
Natalie Sisson is a New Zealand entrepreneur, three times bestselling author, speaker, host of the ‘Untapped’ podcast and handstand lover. After ditching a successful corporate career and co-founding a technology company, Natalie decided to monetize her humble, 6-month old blog, The Suitcase Entrepreneur, into a multiple-six figure online education platform back in 2010.
In her efforts to continuously innovate, Natalie, the OG of digital nomads, turned that content and knowledge into 8 different revenue streams including digital products, courses, workshops, international retreats, and coaching.
These days, she’s passionate about helping women tap into their potential and get paid to be them, so they make an income and impact, simply by being them. Her mission is to help 1,000 women earn $10K per month and contribute at least 1% of their revenue to causes they care about that help lift girls and women up, to create a ripple effect in each other’s lives.
Her most treasured role is as Queen Bee to the Queens of the $10K Club, an international posse of women who support each other through trials and success, all while being coached and mentored by Natalie. Natalie is a two-time Amazon No #1 bestselling author, a sought-after speaker and named as one of Huffington Post’s 50 Must-Follow Women Entrepreneurs in 2017.
In 2021 she was listed on Cashflow Podcasting’s Top 13 Women’s Business Coaches Today. She’s a contributor to Thrive, Forbes and Lifehack, and has featured on many other publications and media outlets including 60 Minutes, Yahoo Finance, Huffington Post, Guardian, Daily Mail, Sydney Herald, Mashable and more.
Her book titles include “Suck It Up Princess: Real life strategies to be the heroine you already are and have the money, success and life you deserve,” and “The Suitcase Entrepreneur: Create Freedom in Business and Adventure in Life Paperback.”
In today’s episode, Natalie shades more light on her entrepreneurial journey and her passion of helping women entrepreneurs reach their maximum potential.

Something I really love about being an entrepreneur is looking for those opportunities for your own personal and professional growth. [4:15]
The Suitcase Entrepreneur was a love affair for 7 years where I was traveling the world living out of a suitcase showing people how to build an online business from anywhere in the world. [4:21]
I went back home and took a sabbatical and later felt like something new was bubbling but not throwing everything away. [4:52]
My business today is still similar, but it's under my own brand name and has switched to helping women. [5:57]
It became clear to me that my sort of superpower is about seeing potential and others and showing them how to get paid to do the work that they love by being themselves. [6:30]
The business is pretty much about education, teaching, but with just a far more specific aspect of helping women entrepreneurs. [6:49]
Freedom has always been one of my highest values and the way that I have built my business. [8:41]
More entrepreneurs need to actually be able to step away and recharge their batteries rather than pay lip service. [10:51]
We are in charge of our own boundaries and limitations and where our energy is best suited to that and we all need to take charge of that. [11:56]
When I had a Suitcase Entrepreneur, it was primarily startup at the beginning of the journey. [12:40]
These days, my favorite audience, are people who do come to me are action takers, who are already further along in their business. [13:59]
When you give, you get so much back, and you should never give with the sake of the camera. [15:36]
There's so many proven benefits to giving in terms of your own feel good factor, how it helps others and the long term relationships. [16:06]
It's good not to just be focusing on you and always your growth and profitability but also, about how you can bring up others with you on your way up. [16:42]
Commercial break. [17:40]
I love when communities come together and strive for better things and realize that they got the ability to be responsible and make great decisions. [18:52]
The 10k club came about during COVID after I got clarity on what is it that I know I can bring and help people with. [19:07]
I saw this as a goal for so many and I thought that's something I knew I can help people with. [19:35]
I distilled down all my years of business experience into the things that had allowed me to succeed and what those pillars were, which came down to three pillars. [19:59]
I really want to help people see their potential, and then from there, they can leapfrog into whatever they need. [20:42]
It's the consistent part and definitely moving those women from a space of always being a service provider mode into spending less time but being more impactful. [22:00]
It is a bit of a mindset shift for some of them who have always been sort of trading time for money, and looking at the way in which you can leverage online business to do that. [22:19]
It is good to think about building a business that can be run without you, it's a smart move. [25:16]
I love it when people decide to go all in and take action versus saying I'll try. [27:56]
It breaks my heart when I hear the word trial, because it usually is not intentional and there's nothing behind it. [28:02]

I've been an entrepreneur for a long time and originally it came from the desire to get out of the corporate world. [3:53]
Unplanned, I went back to university, studied, tried a few things and then became a photographer. [4:19]
Partway through my business journey I learned you could learn from others and that made it a lot easier because then I realized I could learn from the people who are further ahead. [4:35]
In my late 30s, I had a period in my life when everything started to fall apart and this led to me having to rework my own life. [4:46]
That is when my personal development journey began in earnest which actually led to a whole new career path that was not planned. [5:16]
I eventually acknowledged that there was something in the coaching and I just started taking clients who shared the life changing results. [5:55]
I started helping others, and obviously brought my own entrepreneurial experience in. [6:07]
The universe led me into learning intuitive healing and on that journey, I was clearing my own blocks and releasing my own limiting beliefs while at the same time learning how to help others do that. [6:31]
I help people basically release their money blocks but it's about so much more than money and more about realizing potential. [7:14]
It led me on a path that was so much broader, beautiful and more interesting than I ever expected. [8:22]
When our belief system has gotten the opposite to what we're trying to create, our belief system always wins. [9:14]
Kinesiology is a tool for testing our beliefs that are held in our body and it kind of bypasses the conscious mind, and tells us the truth of what's going on. [10:13]
As a trained healer, you see blockages in the body, and areas of disharmony in your clients who have blockages. [11:50]
If our belief system is not congruent with the wealth we're looking to create, we'll find a way to self-sabotage to destroy it. [14:31]
As you scale your business, you want to be scaling your belief system as it relates to money so that you can then hold that wealth. [14:46]
Your intuition is your wisest guide when you're choosing someone to work with or support your business. [17:23]
Commercial Break. [18:22]
The first part of my journey was not entrepreneurial accidentally as I was following my passion for photography and then figuring out how to make money. [20:14]
The second one was really about directly helping others and that involved learning everything about running an online business as well. [20:23]
I was doing that fully before the pandemic and that's been an absolute blessing and God sent but I had to learn everything tech wise. [20:32]
I learned emotional resilience and learning to handle my emotions, so that I get off that emotional roller coaster in my business. [21:17]
Sometimes when things don't work, it's because you're supposed to be doing something slightly different. [23:20]
We think we know the way something has to work out but we don't know that all the different possibilities nor the long term consequence of that. [25:24]
When you're an entrepreneur, you need to be flexible, you need to pivot constantly. [25:37]
Some of the Secrets to my success is first is being connected to source or God, whatever you call that higher power and that's closely linked to listening to your intuition. [26:00]
Second thing is your energy is everything and when it starts to drop, make it a priority by investing in a lot in good food and in rest. [27:14]
Third one is taking big risks and that's linked to not allowing your fears to hold you back. [29:35]
Fourth one is creating a powerful brand and that has been powerful right from the start. [31:56]
The fifth thing is resilience where knowing that miracles happen when you put yourself out there. [35:10]
The sixth thing is the ability to invest in my own personal development and transformation is a priority. [37:55]
Number seven is kindness and really caring about your clients because people resonate with authenticity and kindness more. [39:39]
The eight is getting support and being able to learn what business is about is a game changer. [40:18]
The last one is fun, where if I am not having fun, I don’t want to do it. [40:45]
It can be hard running your own business and it is really important to remember that you are here for a reason. [44:26]
Part of that journey is figuring out how to share and deliver your gifts and who needs them. [44:45]

Badger - Mike Williston
Wednesday Dec 15, 2021
Wednesday Dec 15, 2021
“You have to put yourself out there and be willing to fail.” Mike Williston
In the entrepreneurial journey, very little actually turns out exactly how it was initially expected to. That is why patience is key for survival and success in entrepreneurship. This is according to our guest today, Mike Williston, who also believes that every experience in entrepreneurship leads to something bigger.
Mike Williston is both a co-founder and the CEO of Satellite Displays. He is a results-driven entrepreneur who thrives in early-stage startups. As CEO, he is responsible for taking an idea to reality in his quest to transform the way we communicate. Satellite Displays' created Badger, the world's first closed captioning smart badge that converts speech-to-text and translations in real-time. Badger can also translate in 50+ languages. His vision for the company is what excites his team to elevate to the next level.
Mike’s entrepreneurial journey started at a young age. In high school, Mike launched his first business venture, MGW Contracting, which he ran and operated throughout his undergrad at Monmouth University where he received a double major in Business Marketing and Management. At Monmouth, he was accepted into the accelerated MBA program and worked as a graduate assistant. After completing his MBA from Monmouth University, he jumped right into the start-up world at Compliance Wave. Here he was the first employee part of the Founding Team and Director of Lead Generation.
After launching, Mike and his team rapidly grew the business which resulted in a successful acquisition in 4 years. Next Mike grew interested in manufacturing and began working with Orient Corporation of America, a 100+ year old Japanese manufacturer of dyes and pigment dispersions. While working for Orient, Mike began developing Badger. In August 2019, Mike left Orient to pursue Badger full time and his former employer, Orient, became one of the first early investors in his company Satellite Displays.
Developing, creating and executing ideas is what gets Mike up in the morning, and if you’re in the room with him, you’ll want to learn more and participate in the journey. He makes problem solving fun for those who work with him. He enjoys building exceptional teams while helping everyone hit their personal goals. His family means everything to him, and their dinner conversations range from life goals to sports to business. He developed his competitive edge from playing sports growing up. Outside of work, you can still find him staying active in the gym or playing competitive basketball. And if it’s a windy day, you can find him in the ocean kitesurfing… his favourite type of “board meeting.”
In today’s episode, Mike will elaborate on his passion for kite surfing as well as his entrepreneurial journey towards developing a tool that impact lives for the better.

I've been kite surfing for about five years now and it's a really tight knit community of entrepreneurs. [2:52]
Kite surfing because teaches you how to be patient which is a huge thing when it comes to being an entrepreneur. [3:53]
We created a company called satellite displays and a created badge, which is the world's first closed captioning smart badge that translates or convert speech to text in real time. [5:05]
It works just like a television where you can put closed captions on people in real time which is amazing because communications is really what's going to keep the world spinning. [7:16]
A lot of businesses are formed when tragic things happen or there's a problem where we were building the badger when all of a sudden, the pandemic hit. [8:30]
Due to wearing masks, all of a sudden people that had good hearing were now experiencing what it's like to not have good he [8:56]
Using closed captioning is engaging to the person listening and watching so we're kind of trying to bring that into the real world. [10:57]
There are so many stories where badger could have helped such as where translators are needed or when visiting a foreign country and there is language barrier. [11:54]
It is all about the patience where you have to be willing to show up for the win and not be scared to fail. [14:37]
Commercial break. [15:24]
My secret for success is just constantly being confident and knowing that what I am doing is going to make a difference. [17:19]
You have to put yourself out there and be willing to fail and to be critiqued while going out there and expressing your passion for what you're building. [17:42]
Every experience that you have leads to something else and without that I couldn't have done badger and satellite di [19:55]
I kept the relationships open with all of you and now, everything that I worked on back in 2011, is now coming to fruition in 2021, with badger and satellite displays. [20:05]
If you have an idea, get it to market as fast as possible because without that feedback, you can't improve, innovate, or keep [22:40]
Communication is a two way street where there's the person that is speaking and the person that is listening, and badger helps both. [24:44]
Trust yourself, and keep going on with the journey because if you can stick this out, this is a hell of a ride and it's a lot of fun. [26:05]
